The trip
to Germany,
Schwanebeck 2008
We gathered at the school at 9.45 and set off at 10 o’clock. At about 3
p.m. we arrived at the place where we were waiting for the bus for an
hour. To the German school we were going together with the Latvian and
Finnish pupils. Finally, at school we were taken by our ‘families’ – I
lived with a boy called Philip who is in the same age.
The next day we were awake at 6 a.m. as the lessons started at 7.45.
During the third lesson we had our performance we had prepared in Poland
with my friends. We were very nervous before it, but it went on very
well. Just after the school Philip and I went to the aqua park with his
dad. Everything there was made about pirates. There was a five-floor
pirate ship where was a slide on each floor. On the last one there was a
slide in the darkness. There was also a slide where we were going down
on water wheels. I fell out of the wheel, so I had to run in the water
under very big pressure. After coming back home, we had a very delicious
dinner and went to sleep.
The following day we got up at 6 again, but that time we went to Berlin
after the first lesson. There I saw the Brandenburg Gate, Parliament,
the President’s house, a beautiful church, the TV tower and the World
clock showing the time of all world capital cities. We were also in a
five-floor department store where I could admire an amazing view from
the last floor. On the ground floor there was a shop with Lego blocks
where all the displays were made of the blocks – one meter people, a
dog, a dwarf and a big Santa Claus (maybe of 1.5 metre high). Later we
went to another shopping centre – there was a three-floor Christmas tree
standing (an artificial one, of course). Back to school we were going by
underground, train and bus. When we came back, there was a Christmas
market and we all had musical performances. Some of the Latvians,
Finnish and Germans were singing while others could buy something to eat
and drink. Our performance was the last. We played three Polish
Christmas carols on the flutes.
Then the last day came. The lessons were as usually, but Dawid, the
girls and I spent two first hours in the Comenius classroom. Before 10
o’clock there was a magic show, after which we set off to Poland. The
journey took us about five hours.
In Germany we had a lot of fun and I think it was the best trip I have
ever had in my life.
